Music Love: Justin Timberlake & Matt Morris

Last week I wrote about how I had heard a song by James Bay on the radio and it caused that feeling of awe and wonder that about stopped me in my tracks and caused me to be completely present and listen to the song.  Today, I’d like to share another such song that has the same impact on me.  I’ve heard this song sung many different times by many different artists, and for some reason, this version is just so beautiful that it causes that same response overtime I hear it.

Nature, Busy Days, and Intentions

Yesterday was a crazy day!  I was hustling a lot to get things done and running around without having gotten much sleep.  I did however have this view to look at in the morning and it helped balance and center me while I had breakfast at the beginning of my day.  Sometimes taking a few minutes in the morning just to breath, enjoy my surroundings, especially the neat tree in my picture, is all I need to start my day intentionally.

What do you do to take time for yourself in the morning or during the day?  How do you unwind from a crazy day?

This Pizza is AMAZING…

Sometimes I have the most interesting and fun experiences when I connect with people.  I was looking for a restaurant for dinner and I passed a pizza place.  I wasn’t sure if it was any good, so I asked at the front desk of my hotel to see if they knew about the restaurants and was it any good?

He responds…

It is Ahhhh-MAAAAAZ-ING!

He actually sang the word amazing.  And wouldn’t you know, 20 minutes later, he was in the same pizza shop buying one for himself.  It was one of those wood fired pizza places but you could customize everything you wanted and then they threw it in the wood fired oven for you.  Kind of like the make your own burrito phenomenon but with pizza.  Yum.

Was it Ahhhh-MAAAAAZ-ING?  I’m not sure, but it was a nice dinner and made for a good story.

I heard this song by James Bay again on the radio this weekend.  It is so beautiful it about stopped me in my tracks.  I love how music has the ability to speak to a deeper part of us and cause a reaction I can’t just explain…warm fuzzies or something.  And the interesting part is, it doesn’t matter if I have heard a song once or 100 times, it will still illicit the same response.

Weekends & 100 Days Project

Yesterday I had an absolutely lovely day.  I had a nice, slow start to the day, met up with some lovely friends – we had some great conversation and went exploring which was SOOOO much fun!  Later in the evening I got to thinking, oh no, I haven’t done my post for the day, but I spent the day enjoying time with friends and being deliberate in doing things that were important to me.  I think that’s what matters.  The creative process is important, but I want to make sure that I’m not forcing myself to do something at the expense of other things that I value deeply – connection with friends and exploring.

So for the weekends while I’m doing this project, I think I’m going to lump Saturday and Sunday into one post.  I think that’s the framework that will work best for me.  I think it is important for us to realize that not everyone has the same experiences or values and bending the things we learn to work for us better is part of integrating new ideas into our life.  Sometimes I forget this and I’m glad I had the ability to learn this again through this project.  Some days I might just share a story or a picture, and that’s good enough too.  🙂
